ECTRIMS Summer School 2013

“Every year the ECTRIMS Executive holds a summer school to teach young researchers in the field of MS. This is the first time I will be speaking on one of these courses. It is being held in Bari, in the south of Italy. I am looking forward to the trip very much; more thinking time. Maybe I will produce less controversial posts this time. The following is the programme for the 3 days; I note  there is nothing on MSer or public engagement. This is something that needs to be there for the future. I would be interested in your comments on the principle of the Summer School and the programme.”

  • Agreed, there should be something on public engagement – this will become a bigger feature of all medicine, I believe. People have the will and tools to become much more knowledgeable about treatment options, and want to work in collaboration with their health care professionals.

    • Agree with you. Public engagement is something we take very seriously and this blog is a shining example. It's high time that more groups make this a priority.

  • I'm jealous – enjoy the weather and the great food. Perhaps you could brush up on your Italian.

Bring Dr Mouse back some nice Italian cheese.

    • Yeah he gets to go to all he sunny places to top up his vitamin D

Mice like a bit of cheese:-)

  • Hello,
Its all looks a bit theoretical and not much thought given to those suffering from MS and how an MSer copes with their long term disabilities. I would have thought that a bit on the practical aspects of living with the disease would be essential.

Is this typical of these conferences. Agree with thoughts of Mouse Doctor 2

I fancy a trip to Bari, have not been there for 40 years
