Yep primates have been infected with SAR-COV-2….including via the eyes ..Yuck…Why are they doing this?
I suspect the regulators want toxicity tests of vaccines to be tested in non-human primates, so let’s make a monkey model. I wonder are they really that important?

Have a read, if interested BioRXiv on 17 March https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.03.17.995639v1
and now you ask why Crab Eating Monkey?
Were they on the shelf ready to be tested.? After all we have had a paper, a few days ago saying crab eating monkeys weren’t that great and rhesus macaques were much better, so back to the drawing board. They also said the marmoset were a bit rubbish
Then you can see below with a bit of testing you didn’t need to do the study in the new world monkeys because they would not work as well as humans

Problem is, Do it properly and you have missed your Science paper, your next grant and the fame and fortune.. So you can do it by the book or you can go somethere, where they really don’t care enough.
This is the same with animal experiments for MS…move East or West and it is so much easier to do animal work than in the UK :-(.
The Home Orifice Animals section have been clearing their desks to just work on the COVID animal work…..Why bother…it’s all being done elsewhere 🙁
