Gods will or Simple Science Natural Selection

If you have every studied evolution as a means of the the natural selection of species, you will see the case of the peppered moth. This a noctural moth that would spend the day on tree trunks and the historical colour was mottled (black and white). Then came the industrial revolution and the factories poured out smoke. The trees were blackened and the white variant became bird food. However a mutation occurred and this turned the moths black, they survived and flourished whilst the white ones were banished to the country side with clean air. As the air was cleaned the white and the trees got their natural light colour back, the white ones returned. This occurred before Darwins “Origin of Species” and was an example of natural selection that challengd deine will. We are no seeing another example

The SARS-COV-2 virus virus originated we believe in China and as rapidly air-travelled round the world. As the virus replicates it mutates to be different from the founder strain. It may be just not do anything, but scientitsts use it as a post code. So we can tell that the virus brought into the UK largel came from Italy, with our winterholidays. Then we were let out again and this time we could see the virus arriving from Spain and spreading as people broke quarentining rules. Now we have a good example of Natural selection. This can be seen with the so-called UK and South African variants. These were variants from the virus where the mutation created a advantage to the virus and it allows it to spread quicker

Spread of the UK variant

It becomes dominant. Likewise, the South Africa variant has the same mutation which was also seen earlier in Scotland. The virus does not get extra mutations my mating. But if one mutation that allows faster spread becomes dominant it is the base on which the next set of mutations occur. This may help spread more and may make the vaccines work less effectively. So the quicker we can reduce the spread of the virus the better. Vaccination is one major route of this problem. Tier four vaccinations for people with MS have started and so you will asked about vaccination. The effects of vaccination can already be seen look at israel where a third of the population have been vaccinates. Help stop natural selection for the virus and get vaccinated.

P.S. You do not need to evoke a devine reason for the spread of the the UK variant it is based on science.

The basis of a more contagious 501Y.V1 variant of SARS-COV-2

Severe acute respiratory syndrome-related coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is causing a world-wide pandemic. A variant of SARS-COV-2 (20I/501Y.V1) recently discovered in the United Kingdom has a single mutation from N501 (asparagine amino acid at position 501 of spike) to Y501 (Tyrosine at positin 501) within the receptor binding domain (Y501-RBD), of the Spike protein of the virus. This variant is much more contagious than the original version (N501-RBD). We found that this mutated version of RBD binds to human Angiotensin Converting Enzyme 2 (ACE2) a ~10 times more tightly than the native version (N501-RBD). Modeling analysis showed that the N501Y mutation would allow a potential aromatic ring-ring interaction and an additional hydrogen bond between the RBD and ACE2. However, sera from individuals immunized with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine still efficiently block the binding of Y501-RBD to ACE2 though with a slight compromised manner by comparison with their ability to inhibit binding to ACE2 of N501-RBD. This may raise the concern whether therapeutic anti-RBD antibodies used to treat COVID-19 patients are still efficacious. Nevertheless, a therapeutic antibody, Bamlanivimab, still binds to the Y501-RBD as efficiently as its binds to N501-RBD.

  • Those of you in the UK will probably be able to get vaccinated before May.

Those of us in Spain, still we may be vaccinated before May but it’s looking like May 2025 🤬

  • When you talk about virus, high mutationrate you have to talk about hiv

HIV differs from many viruses in that it has very high genetic variability. This diversity is a result of its fast replication cycle, with the generation of about 10 000 000 000 virions every day, coupled with a high mutation rate of approximately 3 x 10−5 per nucleotide base per cycle of replication and recombinogenic properties of reverse transcriptase.[92][93][94]

This complex scenario leads to the generation of many variants of HIV in a single infected patient in the course of one day.[92] This variability is compounded when a single cell is simultaneously infected by two or more different strains of HIV. When simultaneous infection occurs, the genome of progeny virions may be composed of RNA strands from two different strains. This hybrid virion then infects a new cell where it undergoes replication. As this happens, the reverse transcriptase, by jumping back and forth between the two different RNA templates, will generate a newly synthesized retroviral DNA sequence that is a recombinant between the two parental genomes.[92] This recombination is most obvious when it occurs between subtypes.[

Extremely high mutation rate of HIV-1 in vivo

    “the highest
    reported for any biological entity”

This recombinant event maybe happening in Sars cov-2 allready

    Nice post

  • At the outset of the pandemic epidemiologists predicted the virus would mutate to increase transmissibility but it was also thought that it would also become less lethal. After all it is an evolutionary dead end if the host dies and cannot spread the virus to others. As the numbers of dead increase especially in those over 65 it is imperative to vaccinate the most susceptible. A drop in mortality should follow.

  • Hi this is the other Steve. Its probably due to the “mismanagement” of the pandemic from China during the start. The fact there’s a full blown pandemic while you’re allowing international travel and banning domestic flights lead us to this.

    • Thanks for this info….Sadly it seems some religious leaders do. Currently there is a racial disporortionality on the uptake of vaccine offers is the media ae to believed.
