The lastest offering from our furry friends is about ethanol and the breakdown of dimethyl fumarate to its active ingredient monomethyl fumarate. In this study they report that giving ethanol to mice slows the breakdown of the drug so a DMF chaser may not be the way to take DMF. So remember not to get hammered before your twice daily pill. As it may inhibit the levels reaching the brain
Ethanol is the main ingredient of alcohol and they give 3000mg/kilogramme so that is about 60mg per mouse of 100 percent so that’s like drinking 100mg of floor cleaner or 150mg of the good stuff. At 3g /Kg in human it would be 210g. Per human so I’m guessing at 1g equal 1ml that would be about 210ml of ethanol so 420ml( Half a bottle) for export gin. Now I am not sure I have the maths right and need to read the paper but it I think the paper is saying it may not be advised to drink before taking your drugs.
I would have thought it would be easier to do a study in humans to find this out.Maybe they have

I’d be willing to take part in a human trial with a nice single malt
(Actually I stopped drinking after my fainting/head injury/potential heart problem episode a few weeks ago, currently swinging between wanting to open one of the very nice bottles I have and never wanting to drink again)
I ain’t drunk, I’m just drinkin’
🙂
Albert Collins…”the iceman” great Texas blues on his Stratocaster. Great choice.
That’s a Telecaster not a Strat (guitar pedant here). I had the pleasure of seeing Albert many years ago, guest appearance by Gary Moore. Blues heaven!!
Sadly, both of them are no longer with us.
The piano has been drinking
